Youth Services

The Dispute Resolution Center’s Youth Mediation Services offers two programs to serve the youth of the Kitsap County community.

Parent-Youth Mediation

Parent-Youth mediation is a process that helps parents and youth sort through the problems, find the issues, talk about what's most important, and come up with a set of agreements that EVERYONE can accept.

Rather than looking at past blame or guilt, mediation helps people in conflict to focus on the present and look to the future.

Before your family resorts to:

IGNORING THE CONFLICT
NOT COMMUNICATING
VIOLENCE
RUNNING AWAY
COURT

Try PARENT-YOUTH Mediation!

V.O.I.C.E.S. – Victim-Offender Mediation

Victim-Offender, V.O.I.C.E., mediation is an alternative approach to the traditional juvenile justice system. The program is intended to give victims a voice in the minor offenses that a juvenile commits against them.

A mediator contacts the victim and requests the victim’s voluntary participation. A face-to-face meeting then takes place between the victim and the offender. The victim and offender negotiate an agreement that could include restitution, community service, and other means to make things right for the victim; to the extent it is possible.
