2008 Training Calendar Announced

Scheduled training events for 2008 are available at this link.

Mediator Credentialing

An Intern practicum leading to certification by the DRC as a practicing mediator is available to 40-hour Basic Mediation Training graduates. This is a great opportunity for individuals wishing to continue building their skills and enhance their professional lives. Most mediators will confirm that mediation training provides personal growth in communication and conflict resolution skills.

Interns observe actual cases and work with experienced mediators in a co-mediation setting to practice their skills. This is a unique experience and a valuable opportunity to build expertise in the field.

The program includes the following steps:

  1. 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training (trainings other than a DRC Basic Mediation training must be approved by the training manager)
  2. Successful completion of a take-home exam
  3. Minimum observation of 8 mediations
  4. One mock mediation practice
  5. Minimum participation in 6 co-mediations with a mentor mediator
  6. On-going in-service attendance during practicum
  7. Final review of a co-mediation by the training manager
  8. DRC certification as a practicing mediator
